The next Conference is less than a month away. This is your event
and past conferences have been made a huge success by the attendance
and participation of both members and non members. Please do let you
colleagues who may not be members, know about this unmissable
event.
We have listened to member requests for topics to do with the
latest and creative thinking in training and information on business
issues; especially how to get more work.
With these thoughts in mind our keynote speaker is Peter
Honey who will be exploring the issues of Trainer styles. Just
how might a trainer's style affect the learning environment and how
might they change.
Also, we have sessions on Human givens by Duncan John,
offering the latest thinking in how to influence learners and raise
the standard of learning and development.
Oddball training will be providing a snippet from their highly
successful "Magicians Apprentice" programme; offering an
insight into how to may your training more magical and learner
friendly.
On the business side we have a session on the getting seen
(including search engine optimisation) by the estimated 60% of
training purchasers that are using the Internet as a source
of new providers. There are purchasers out there looking for new
trainers; if you are visible you are more likely to be in the
running.
Robert Clay will be looking at Trainer USP; once seen by
purchasers, just how will trainers stand out from the growing number
of freelancers entering the market place.
And for those that want to be recommended by TrainerBase
and be seen as having proven their competence as Learning
Practitioners, there will be a keynote session on the TrainerBase
Standard, the Certified Learning Practitioner accreditation and how
TrainerBase, the Association for Learning Practitioners is set to be
the voice of the freelance and independent provider.
For further information please visit our new Information
Site.
We have re-opened the TrainerBase shop for bookings, please visit
www.trainerbase.co.uk/shop
or if you prefer call 01239 711544 to book you place.

We will be enhancing the services we offer on TrainerBase in due
course and changing some of the existing services.
CERTIFIED LEARNING PRACTITIONERS: The first cohort of
members are piloting the accreditation and are working towards
becoming Certified Learning Practitioners. We have an induction
workshop on February 23rd. Anyone interested in having TrainerBase
actively promote and recommend them to purchasers of learning and
development services should contact me.
FOUNDING MEMBERS: there are still 5 founding
member places available (limited to a total of 20). Founding members
get lifetime membership to the Association, permanent mention on the
new web site, mention is Association literature AND free CLP
accreditation (subject to evidence and assessment). Please let me
know if you want to take this up; prior to the end of March when the
offer will close. Contribution is £1,500.
OTHER SERVICES: We at TrainerBase acknowledge that members
will have expertise in some areas and not in others, some of which
may be required to promote a professional image. With this in mind
and capitalising on the expertise within the TrainerBase staff we
will start to offer support services to members. These support
services include: training activity design, graphic design both of
training materials and promotional materials, photo editing,
database design for MS Access and MS SQL plus business development
advise. Subscribers to TrainerBase will benefit from a discount on
any chargeable services.

The format and concept of featured trainer slot is being changed.
We are going to use this to show case Certified Learning
Practitioners. The expectations is that CLPs will be interviewed and
a short profile written and this displayed on the site. This will be
a free facility and champion the accreditation and its benefits.

The following opportunity has been posted on the site in the past
week or so:
I am please to report that a small number of opportunities posted
in the past couple of months have been from 'direct' purchasers,
supplementing those that are looking for 'associate' trainers.
Please do be aware that some opportunities are posted and then
removed before they appear in the weekly update. It is advisable to
check the site periodically as I do not always send out alerts. If
you know of a friend who would be interested in any of the
opportunities posted on the site, please feel free to forward them
this email (not give them details of the opportunities) and ask them
to use this referral code when joining the site: - TB21!*USERID*!07.
You will be rewarded for referring the friend.
When considering applying for an opportunity, members should
check the requirements including; Subject, Sector Skills and Level
Experience. If you do not match the requirement you should not apply
for the opportunity, this practice is becoming very unpopular
amongst purchasers and other trainers.
If you are interested in using this facility as a way of sourcing
independent contractors but are not sure about the best way to
approach it, please feel free to email me.

The season is upon us when TrainerBase will be conducting a
number of Trainer related surveys. These include:
- We had an excellent response to your Sponsors survey and the
information gathered will be very useful when seeking funding
support from potential suppliers of services. Please be aware that
we will not be passing on any of the data to sponsors, the
information will only be reported in the aggregate.
- The Trainer Rates 2007 survey report has been
completed and published. Apologies for this being a little late by
I hope to have it published at the end of the month.
- We are looking to conduct a major piece of research into the
status of the freelance and independent learning and development
industry. I will post further information about this in due
course. We will be inviting sponsors to support this survey
- And the Trainer Rates survey 2008 will commence in August
2008. Our intention is to include purchaser responses for the
first time. We will be inviting sponsors to support this survey.
