for Learning Practitioners |

!*FIRSTNAME*!
Welcome to the TrainerBase update
number 235.
The regular updates have been a bit thin on the ground recently,
apologies for this, the setting up of the trade Association and the
launching of Certified Learning Practitioners has been an exciting but
time consuming challenge.
TrainerBase is working towards being recognised as the voice for
independent learning practitioners. We showcased the Association for
Learning Practitioners and the new Certified Learning Practitioner
accreditation at HRD 2008. The event was very successful. We spoke to
over 150 training purchasers many of whom were very interested in using
TrainerBase the next time they needed to find a freelance trainer. The
CLP accreditation was very well received and comments suggested the
Standard for Learning Practitioners was long overdue. If you are
interested in finding out more about the CLP accreditation; apply to
come on one of our Induction Day workshops at
www.certifiedlearningpractitioner.com.
TrainerBase is engaging with various other organisations within the
learning and development sector to raise awareness of our membership and
to contribute to discussion and dialogue that affects our members.
If
you have any thoughts, ideas or opportunities which would help us grow
as an Association, please do let us know.
Onwards and upwards.

We will be enhancing the services we offer on TrainerBase in due
course and changing some of the existing services.
CERTIFIED LEARNING PRACTITIONERS: We had an excellent turn out
at our Induction Day workshop on May 10th. Two more candidates; Mike
Morrison and Mike Mortby undertook their assessments.
We are holding another set of Induction Day workshops on July 4th and
5th and 26th and 27th September. These will be held in the Midlands and
are free to attend. Anyone wishing to take part should email heatherg@trainerbase.co.uk
SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES: TrainerBase has been and is in negotiation with a number of
providers including:
- Publications (magazine),
- Insurance brokers and
- Legal services.
The idea being that these services will be a part or a benefit of
Association membership.
We are pleased to announce that from June 2008 TJ (Training Journal;
the publication for learning and development) will be free (worth £155)
as part of the Enhanced Subscription. Members who sign up to the
Standard Subscription will receive 3 complementary copies. (This offer
is not back dated).

The format and concept of featured trainer slot is being changed.
We are going to use this to show case Certified Learning
Practitioners. The expectations is that CLPs will be interviewed and
a short profile written and this displayed on the site. This will be
a free facility and champion the accreditation and its benefits.

The following opportunity has been posted on the site in the past
week or so:
I am please to report that a small number of opportunities posted in
the past couple of months have been from 'direct' purchasers,
supplementing those that are looking for 'associate' trainers.
Please do be aware that some opportunities are posted and then
removed before they appear in the weekly update. It is advisable to
check the site periodically as I do not always send out alerts. If you know of a friend who would be interested in any of the
opportunities posted on the site, please feel free to forward them this
email (not give them details of the opportunities) and ask them to use
this referral code when joining the site: - TB21!*USERID*!07. You will
be rewarded for referring the friend.
When considering applying for an opportunity, members should check
the requirements including; Subject, Sector Skills and Level Experience.
If you do not match the requirement you should not apply for the
opportunity, this practice is becoming very unpopular amongst purchasers
and other trainers.
If you are interested in using this facility as a way of sourcing
independent contractors but are not sure about the best way to approach
it, please feel free to email me.

Few members seem to be using the 'Who's where when' diary facility.
Has this lost its appeal?

To satisfy the interest in statistics about the the site, below are
some facts and figures that may be useful:
- Current total number of active members: 5,999 of which 4,180 are UK
based.
- Currently receive the newsletter: 4,697
- Currently receive offers and ads: 5,288
- Trainer searches made in the last 28 days: 672.
- Number of member profile's viewed in the past 28 days: 5,394, of
which 4,121 (76%) were viewed by non members (potential purchasers?). This is a
definite indicator that visitors to the site are interested in viewing
subscriber profiles. Of course if you have not subscribed your profile
cannot be viewed.
- Number of new member types in the past 28 days;
- Basic user (potential purchaser) 20
- Supplier 5
- Trainer 107
- Leadership, Management Development, Finance and Accounting, Excel
and Health and Safety are the top searched for subject in
the past 28 days. A total of 137 different subjects were searched for.
Interesting that Management Development has moved off the top list of
searched for subjects.
- A cursory review of the Work Function indicated that approximately
40% of active members has indicated their function. Of these 20%
indicate a purchasing function, 64% indicating they are independent
trainers with no purchasing function.
TrainerBase started to take a more proactive approach
to finding work for its members; we will be asking companies if they would like proposals from TrainerBase
members. The requests for proposal will be posted on the Opportunities page
as Brokered Leads.
