Welcome to the TrainerBase update number 241.

 

As it appears that the UK economy is moving towards more precarious times, the need for and benefits derived from, a representative body for freelance and independent trainers, course developers and advisers, increases. What support services would you like to see TrainerBase, as the trade association, offer?

 

With regards to existing services the following is an overview but not an exhaustive list:

  • We provide a unique and highly visible (40,000+ visitors per month) platform for trainers to show case themselves on the web site and
  • have in excess of 350 training related tender opportunities listed each year.
  • We have run 4 conferences,
  • are running free TB/CLP introduction workshop and
  • have 3 member profile workshops coming up in the Autumn.
  • TJ (Training Journal the publication for learning and development) is free as part of our Enhanced subscription.
  • We have in place our Standard and the CLP accreditation scheme which is being actively promoted to purchasers and enables TrainerBase to recommend providers.

There is a raft of commercial and non commercial services that a trade association could provide; what would benefit you.

Certified Learning Practitioner

 

Are you a trainer looking for recommendation from TrainerBase? Are you a purchaser looking for assurance that the freelance trainer you engage is able to define and meet objectives?

 

Then CLP is an accreditation that will be of interest to you.

 

We had an excellent turn out at our Introduction Day workshop on July 5th. Andrew Milller and Toni Johnson undertook their assessments and have both been accredited as CLPs

 

We are holding another set of Induction Day workshops on 26th and 27th September. These will be held in the following locations:

  • Friday 26th September 2008; De Vere Venues, Staverton Park, Daventry Road, Staverton, Daventry, Northamptonshire, NN11 6JT. Northampton and Rugby main line stations are both approximately 12 miles away. 
  • Saturday 27th September 2008; De Vere Venues, Sunningdale Park, Larch Avenue, Ascot, Berkshire, SL5 0QE. Sunningdale station is 5 minutes from Sunningdale Park.

And if you are not able to attend in September, we are holding the next CLP days in December:

  • Friday 5th December 2008; De Vere Venues, Sunningdale Park, Larch Avenue, Ascot, Berkshire, SL5 0QE. Sunningdale station is 5 minutes from Sunningdale Park.
  • Saturday 6th December 2008 De Vere Venues, Cheadle House, Royal Crescent, Cheadle Royal Business Park , Cheadle, Cheshire, SK8 3FS. 15 minutes drive to either Stockport or Wilmslow Stations (both InterCity lines).

We have 2 surveys currently open. These are:

  • TRAINER RATES 2008: This is the fifth year we have been conducting this investigation. Please visit http://www.trainerbase.co.uk/go/rates08 . This year we are including purchaser responses for the first time. We are inviting sponsors to support this survey. This survey will close at the end of the month.

Statistics

As a way of gauging how busy and popular TrainerBase is, the following statistics might be of interest to you:

  • Current total number of active members: 6,320 of which 4,379 are UK based. 
  • Currently receive the newsletter: 5,009
  • Currently receive offers and ads: 5,589
  • Profile views in the past 28 days; 5,047
    Number of new member types in the past 28 days;
    • Basic user (potential purchaser) 9
    • Supplier 2
    • Trainer 56
  • Management Development, Customer services skills, Accelerated Learning, Moving & Handling (People) and Manual Handling are the top searched for subject in the past 28 days. A total of 110 different subjects were searched for.
  • A cursory review of the Work Function indicated that approximately 40% of active members has indicated their function. Of these 20% indicate a purchasing function, 64% indicating they are independent trainers with no purchasing function.

TrainerBase has started a major marketing campaign to raise the profile of CLP amongst the 1,000+ purchasers listed as wanting to be kept up to date with the Association. TrainerBase is also actively seeking requests for recommendations within various digests and online communities. If you would like to be part of these campaign please sign up to the CLP accreditation.
