!*FIRSTNAME*!,

Welcome to your TrainerBase update 270.

The TrainerBase web site is a long standing and increasingly well known facility for finding trainers on the Internet. But as with any search facility, where you come in the list of potentially thousands of other trainers is an important factor. Last time I explained the foundation of having a presence on the TrainerBase web site; having a Basic of Full enhanced Profile (being a member). This week I am going to explain how the ranking in the search results on the Find a Trainer page actually works. This is about how you can get into those important top pages in the search results.

You can read the full article on the Points and Ranking page on our TrainerBase.info web site. In brief, getting up the ranking is all about:

  • increasing your score and/or
  • reducing the number of subjects.

And the quickest way to find out where you are in the search results is to search for yourself. Do check out your position in Edit Profile by clicking on the 'View your Profile Position and purchase points.' link.

In later updates I will explain some more intricacies of the TrainerBase web site and how to increase your chances of getting work including:

  • Activating and populating a Full enhanced profile (and how to help your own web site)
  • Sharing resources (without giving away your stock in trade)
  • Who been looking at your profile (how popular are you)
  • Networking (making contacts in a virtual world)
  • Applying for opportunities (how not to get yourself eliminated before you start)

If there are other topics that you would like an explanation about, please feel free to get in touch.

And do remember that the ability to find work via the site is just one of a number of benefits of being part of the Learning Practitioners Association. Other include:

  • discount insurance
  • free copies of TJ
